Mission Statement

WCVCS's missionAbout WCVCS is to provide students with a highly personal and continuous connection to learning through an Internet based education. We believe that people are empowered by their independent use of information technologies and that they are united by opportunities to share resources and communicate in our local and global communities. We deem that this quality instructional alternative will serve individual needs and prepare the student to be a contributing member of society. The Warren County Virtual Community School will develop in each student the art of communication, the ability to engage in critical thinking and to demonstrate the mastery of the academic building blocks necessary for a successful future.

School Abstract

WCVCS is a public school and does not charge tuition. We will strive to take students at their current academic level, build upon that foundation, and increase achievement at developmentally appropriate rates and levels. We believe that all children can be successful, and our ultimate goal is to provide applicable skills that will allow students to be lifelong learners and intelligent decision makers.

The WCVCS does not charge tuition. We will loan students a computer and provide internet access. The WCVCS employs state credentialed educators who have been prepared to teach on-line. Teachers and staff are available for conferences via the Aurora messaging system or telephone.

Warren County Virtual Community SchoolWelcome from the Director

Welcome to the Warren County Virtual Community School located in Lebanon, Ohio.

The Warren County Virtual Community School is a 9-12th grade public Community School sponsored by the Wayne Local School District in Waynesville, Ohio. Our school is funded by tax dollars provided by the Ohio Department of Education.

The Warren County Virtual Community School's Web based program is designed to teach required subjects that are aligned with the standards required by the state of Ohio. The subjects are tailored to fit all learning styles, interests, and needs of students and families. The courses of study provided by the WCVCS will provide for an accredited high school diploma.

The Warren County Virtual Community School's on-line learning program provides students with many opportunities to think and learn independently. With this program, the students are empowered with freedom to search for information and find answers on their own with the guidance of certified teachers. The focus is on an active style of learning. Through independent research, students become creative thinkers with increased self-esteem and self confidence. Instead of textbooks, students learn from the best libraries, museums, and information archives in the world. Lessons are enhanced by graphics, stereo sound, and multimedia pictures.

This 9-12th grade program style of learning can radically improve students' attitude about learning and life. The program has been very effective with at-risk students, helping them successfully earn their high school diplomas.
